VALUES MATTER
Values Matter Rewind
This is a Values Matter MDCPS video of a year in review. We are proud of our students and our efforts in making this program front and center for our students. We’re also excited that we were featured as the opening of the video.
SHARING AND CARING IN OUR COMMUNITY
THANKSGIVING – We know it’s important to give thanks and at William Lehman Elementary not only do we give thanks, we also give to those in our community. We enjoy a month long of giving to those in need by bringing in food and monetary donations. We create Thanksgiving baskets for our families. The students witness our volunteers (our parents) put the baskets together with love.
HOLIDAY GIVING – Students are encouraged to bring in toys for children in need within our community. Our volunteers help and this really becomes a labor of love and we are thrilled to be able to place big smiles on our children’s faces. When we share, we show our kids that we care and bring smiles to those in need.
COURTEOUS ME – Your child may come home one day with a courteous me sticker. That’s because they showed one of the values that matter. Being good to a fellow student, helping a teacher, opening the door, being courteous to other children and the list goes on and on. Congratulate them, they did this on their own and we encourage them.
PEACE DAY – A festive peaceful tradition at our school. There’s music, a procession of Peace Day activities in the form of poems, instruments and awards to recognize those that encourage peace in our school. It’s a sea of blue with everyone wearing our Thursday Peace Day shirt. Parents are welcome to witness this tradition we hold dear to our hearts.
